The global carboplatin injection market is expected to grow at a significant CAGR during the forecast period (2021-2027).  Carboplatin is a chemotherapeutic drug that is offered under various brand names, including Paraplatin. It is used to treat a variety of cancers including ovarian cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, brain cancer, and neuroblastoma. It is administered through a venous injection. The increasing prevalence of cancer is contributing to the growth of the market. For instance, as per Cancer.gov, in the US, head and neck cancers account for roughly 4% of all cancers. Men are more than twice as likely as women affected with these cancers. Cancers of the head and neck are also diagnosed more frequently in those over 50 than in younger people. In 2021, more than 68,000 men and women in the US were diagnosed with head and neck cancers. The majority of people were diagnosed with mouth, throat, or voice box cancer.

Further, according to Cancer.org, ovarian cancer is the sixth leading cause of cancer mortality in women, killing more women than any other cancer of the female reproductive system. A woman's lifetime risk of developing ovarian cancer is roughly 1 in 78. Her chances of dying from ovarian cancer are roughly 1 in 108 in her lifetime. This cancer primarily affects women in their 40 or 50s. About half of all women diagnosed with ovarian cancer are above the age of 63. White women are more likely to have it than African-American women. However, over the last 20 years, the number of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer has steadily decreased. Carboplatin is utilized alone or in combination with other medications for the treatment of cancer of the ovaries that has spread to other parts of the body, not improved, and worsened after treatment with other radiation or medications therapy. It belongs to a class of medications referred to as platinum-containing compounds. It works by inhibiting or slowing the growth of cancer cells.
