The global converged network adapter (CNA) market is estimated to grow at a CAGR during the forecast period. The major factor contributing to the growth of the global converged network adapter (CNA) market includes the technological advancements in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and large enterprises.
A converged network adapter (CNA) is a network interface card (NIC), that combines a Fiber Channel (FC) host bus adapter (HBA) and a TCP/IP Ethernet NIC into a single card. It links servers to storage area networks (SANs) and local area networks (LANs), based on FC (LANs). A PCI Express (PCIe) interface connects the CAN to the server. The server uses the Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) protocol for FC SAN data and the Ethernet protocol for LAN data, to transport both FC SAN and LAN traffic to an Ethernet port on a converged switch. The FCoE traffic is converted to FC and is sent to the FC SAN, by the converged switch. The Ethernet traffic is routed to the LAN immediately.
The key players contributing to the growth of the global converged network adapter (CNA) market by adopting various strategies such as product launches & developments, mergers and acquisition, partnerships, and agreements, include Cisco Systems Inc., Keysight Technologies, ATTO Technology Inc., CenturyLink, Broadcom Inc., among others. For instance, in October 2020, two new converged network adapters (CNA) were launched by the HPE based on the Marvell FastLinQ 41000 Series Technology. These are HPE StoreFabric CN1200R 10GBASE-T converged network adapter and HPE StoreFabric CN1300R 10/25Gb converged network adapter, which supports Remotes Direct Memory Access (RDMA) technology.
