The global electroplating melt-blown non-woven material market is estimated to grow at a significant CAGR during the forecast period. Melt blowing is a typical micro-and nanofiber production technology in which a polymer melt is extruded through small nozzles while being surrounded by high-speed blowing gas. A nonwoven sheet product made up of randomly placed fibers can be used for sorbents, filtration, medicine and clothing delivery systems, and other applications. The simplicity, high specific productivity, and solvent-free operation are all significant advantages of melt blowing. The nonwoven material market is being propelled by the desire for new and better-performing products. Healthcare business has a substantial demand for nonwoven fabric. The key driving forces for this industry include an increase in the number of surgical procedures and the creation of new medical facilities.

COVID-19 pandemic has further led to the demand for non-woven materials. For instance, in June 2020, to meet the global demand for face masks, Lydall invested in a new fine fiber melt-blown production line. Lydall will be able to produce high-quality fine fiber melt-blown filtering media for N95, surgical, and medical face masks with this new production line, considerably increasing their supply and supporting to alleviate melt-blown material shortages in the US and globally. Additionally, in May 2020, Berry Global announced the addition of an asset to its Meltex melt-blown capacity to meet the increased demand for face masks for COVID-19 prevention. Nonwoven protective materials and filter materials for premium FFP2 (N95) and FFP3 (N99) grade filter media will be the focus of the new range.
