Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) Market is expected to grow at a significant rate during the forecast period 2019-2025. The environmental regulatory authorities need manufacturing industries to track pollutant through emission monitoring systems (EMS). It is a traditional monitoring system approved by the authorities. The EMS measures the number of various gases in the air such as carbon dioxide, mercury, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and hexavalent chromium. The type of EMS includes continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) and predictive emission monitoring systems (PEMS). The EMS is traditional equipment, which is used for CEMS and designed to determine the gas or emission rate of specific pollutants. In the CEMS system, the analyzer is used to measure gases, whereas software enables to evaluate the results of applicable emission. The PEMS use modeling software for emission rate, which is based on control device operating parameters and enables to predict emission levels

The factors contributing to the growth of the EMS market include increasing environmental protection initiatives, increasing concerns about health and safety, growing demand for oil & gas and stringent environmental regulations. The government initiative is increasing, for instance, in April 2015, the Ministry of Environment and Forest and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has taken initiative for CEMS in India. In which, the government issued a draft notification to install, data transfer, calibrate and compliance for CEMS installation in industries. The EMS market is segmented on the basis of the component, technology and vertical. On the basis of technology, the EMS is categorized into CEMS and PEMS. The PEMS are software analyzers, which provides a real-time estimation of emission.

The governments across the globe are working to regulate pollution, which is generated through engine emissions. The demand for better emissions testing is increasing globally. The emissions testing advancement and air quality monitoring enables to reduce emissions, which affects health, and climate. Human/Animal Research Protocol Management System (HARP) is focused on developing advanced testing for oil and gas operations and focuses to reduce engine emissions. It includes cleaner diesel engines, turbine engines, that operates on clean-burning natural gas. The testing enables to understand emissions characteristics and fuel economy of the systems. The HARP Research Associate and physicist developed and designed hardware and software systems, which is utilized in presence of hydrocarbon gases. The advanced Real-Time Emissions Measurement System (REMS) collects data from various sources such as a gas analyzer, weather stations, mass flow meters, control valves, and the engine’s controller area networks (CAN).

Geographically, the market is divided into North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Rest of the World. North America region is dominating the market due to the increasing number of installations of EMS various industries. The CEMS technology has been approved by major international organizations such as the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In Europe, the EMS market is increasing due to government initiatives to eliminates emissions created from industrial, commercial, or residential activities. However, Asia-Pacific is fastest growing due to rapid industrialization and increasing adoption of EMS in the region.  There are various companies involved in the EMS market such as ABB Ltd., ALS Ltd., AMETEK Inc., Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, Inc., and Beijing SDL Technology Co., Ltd. The companies are focused on developing advanced EMS software and hardware to stay competitive in the market. Geographical expansion, merger & acquisition, finding a new market or innovate in their core competency in order to expand individual market share is a key strategy adopted by major market players.
