The global market for powerline adapter is expected to grow at a significant CAGR during the forecast period (2021-2027). A powerline adaptor is a device that transmits communications signals across your home's electrical wiring. The adapters (at least two) plug into wall outlets and connect to the router on one end and the device on the other via Ethernet wires (TV, games console, PC whatever it may be). In contrast to the wireless connection provided by Wi-Fi, this establishes a physical connection between the device and the router. Powerline is now a well-established technology, and the speeds it can achieve have steadily increased over time, to the point where it can theoretically match Wi-Fi's speeds (1300Mbps).

A new innovation in the field are the powerline Wi-Fi range extenders  they work on the same concept as Ethernet range extenders, but instead of only having an Ethernet connector at the device end, they can also transmit Wi-Fi. As a result, the devices will be connected both wirelessly and through Ethernet cable. They are of two types including Single-band and dual-band Wi-Fi Powerline Adapters. The bands are the two frequency ranges utilized by Wi-Fi. Single band only contains 2.4GHz, whereas dual band has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

Due to pandemic and lockdowns all around the globe, the need for high speed data transfer and communication has considerably increased. This will be driving the market growth for powerline adapters. From 2015 through 2020, India's internet user base grew at a rate of 24% each year on average. These data show that India's digital ecosystem is quickly evolving. In India, more than 400 million individuals use social media sites as of January 2020. In India, this equated to a market penetration of 29%.

In June 2021, Devolo, a German company, launched the Magic 2 line of devices in the US, based on the ITU G.hn standard, which is more frequently used in Europe. Devolo is also releasing a range of hybrid devices that combine powerline networking with mesh Wi-Fi to provide coverage across a home.
