The Under Water Acoustic Communication Market is expected to register a CAGR of 22.5% during the forecast period. About 75% of the earth surface is covered with water from the oceans. Due to various phenomenal activities in the underwater environment, the oceans  have remained unexplored. To monitor the marine life, water pollution, oil and gas rig exploration, natural disaster surveillance, naval tactical operations for coastal security, and underwater environment, underwater wireless communication areimportant. The attributes of underwater channels are difficult to describe due to the unique and harsh underwater environment. .Severe attenuation, multipath dispersion, and low resource usage are examples of these conditions.

To solve the fundamental and practical difficulties of underwater wireless communication, advanced communication methods based on acoustic, electromagnetic, and/or optical waves are being developed.

Deployable Autonomous Distributed System (DADS) financed by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the Autonomous Oceanographic Sampling Network funded by the ONR and the National Science Foundation are two recent projects to construct underwater acoustic networks in shallow and medium water zones. The DADS, for example, is an underwater surveillance system made up of permanent sensor platforms connected by acoustic modems. As a result of all of these concerns, the use of underwater acoustic communication modems in naval defence has increased.

In September 2021 NATO released ANEP-87 Digital Underwater Signaling Standard for Network Node Discovery and Interoperability (JANUS). It is the first underwater communications standard to be defined by an international body. JANUS is the first step toward the “internet of underwater things.” This equipment includes applications such as underwater autonomous vehicles, diver and ship communication systems, smart buoys, and intelligent sensors.Market Coverage
