The global agricultural biological market is anticipated to grow at a considerable CAGR of 4.9% during the forecast period. Harmful impact of chemical-based fertilizers and pesticides is boosting the global agricultural biological market. Some of the chemical fertilizers including urea, diammonium phosphate (DAP, and others may cause harms such as waterway pollution, chemical burn to crops, health problems, increased air pollution, acidification of the soil and mineral depletion of the soil. excessive use of chemical fertilizers has led to several issues such as depletion of soil and removal of essential nutrients. As a result, the food produced in these soils has less vitamin and mineral content. According to UN Environment Programme (UNEP) data 2021, using chemical pesticides causes both acute and long-term health impacts. Further, around 385 million cases of non-fatal unintentional pesticide poisonings have been estimated to occur every year, with approximately 11,000 deaths.

Using chemical fertilizers regularly causes groundwater pollution, which is also called leaching. Chemical fertilizers that are highly soluble get absorbed by the ground more rapidly than they are absorbed by the intended plants. Plants can absorb only a given level of nutrition at a time, leaving the rest of the fertilizer to leach. The synthetic chemicals in chemical fertilizers change soil pH, which adversely affects the health of naturally found soil microorganisms. These altered levels of acidity in the soil eliminate the microorganisms that are beneficial to plant and soil health to increase the plants' natural defenses against pests and diseases. The use of chemical fertilizers also threatens the health of bacteria that fix the nitrogen balance in the soil. These nitrogen-fixing bacteria are responsible for converting the atmospheric oxygen into a form of nitrogen used readily by plants. Thus, the agricultural biologicals are applied to the soil for protecting crops from pests, weeds, diseases, and to enhance their yield by improving nutrient uptake.
