Recent Strategic Initiatives

In June 2022, SUEZ along with its partners Royal Bafokeng Holdings, and African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), signed an agreement for the acquisition of EnviroServ Holding Proprietary Ltd. The deal enables SUEZ to reinforce its positioning as an international player in industrial and municipal waste treatment activities and to strengthen its position in the African continent. Moreover, this acquisition will enable the company to bring the best know-how and technology to the management of waste in South Africa, and other parts of the continent.

In May 2022, Hitachi Zosen Inova BioMethan GmbH, Zeven has taken the VERBIO’s site in Zorbig for the construction of biomethane gas in Germany. The renewable gas has been produced from residues and used as a biofuel for CNG-powered vehicles. Moreover, this innovative fuel reduces CO2 by at least 90% versus diesel and petrol and is suitable for powering cars, lorries, and local buses, and this gas provides great potential as a fuel for long-haul heavy goods vehicles.

In May 2022, a new plant built by Hitachi Zosen Inova on behalf of the German company Eggersmann Anlagen Concept for the Wielkopolskie Centrum Recyklingu waste incineration plant in Jarocin will treat around 15,000 tonnes of household organic and green waste a year to produce renewable energy and fertilizer, and going to start in 2024. Moreover, the plant enables the treatment of the organic fraction separated from mixed municipal waste by technical means to produce biogas.
