However, owing to the increased internet consumption through multimedia streaming apps on mobile and computers, there are serious chances of a breakdown of the telecom network. Due to this, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has warned in a letter to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to reduce the quality to SD from HD. COAI also urged popular Over-The-Top (OTT) players including Netflix, Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, Sony Liv, Alt Balaji, and YouTube, among others to do so. So far, Amazon Prime and Netflix have agreed to lower the quality. Thus, this may reduce around a 25% load of internet traffic.
