In July 2019, Qualcomm initiated a new testing center in Farnborough for its 5G New Radio (NR) European facilities for its end-to-end, over-the-air designs for 5G NR millimeter wave. By the use of a new facility, the OEMs and telecommunication operators can test, refine and modify their network configurations mmWave technology. Sony will be the first company to use the new facility for testing purposes. In August 2019 in Totnes, a small town in England, halted the plan to roll out 5G wireless technology due to fear of health issue. 1,600 out of 8,000 residents in the town signed a petition for more research related to the safety of the technology.
